Tonight was my first class in a business development program, Planning for Profit, at the Woman’s Business Development Center. This program is geared towards entrepreneurial women who have a business idea and need to flush it out or have already started a business. I’m in the latter category…with two businesses, my own freelance graphic design and Legacy Frameworks, my husband, Levi’s, design and hand-built bicycle company, which I have a significant role in.
In the class, I’ll be developing a business plan which includes three modules and focusing on Legacy Frameworks.
1:: Foundation & Vision
2:: Marketing and exposure
3:: Financials and Finesse
I’ve been running my freelance graphic design business for nearly 4 years and Levi & I run Legacy Frameworks, which both are going well but there’s a lot of guesswork, feeling a little haphazard about how the businesses are run. Both have goals and lots of ideas, so this program will be helpful to be walked through a process to build a meaningful foundation setting bigger goals and a plan to get there. I feel incredibly empowered by the foundation that I’m about to build, and is really confident boosting.
I’m taking the class with 21 other smart, entrepreneurial women with diverse business ideas and it’ll be fun to watch everyone grow over the next few months, and over the years.

The Slant Desk
I designed the Slant Desk to be my perfect workable space. The simple, clean design includes thoughtful details which make it easy to keep tidy and comfortable to work on.
Desk details include:
- The angled legs so your knees are bruise-free
- The small shelf is tall enough so your laptop will fit under it and back far enough to accommodate a second monitor. And keep a few small knick-nacks.
- The grooves in the top shelf keep pencils from rolling away.
- The bottom shelf provides storage for cords.
- The indentation provides a space for the cords to reach the storage area below and prevents them from being smashed against the wall.
- The beveled desk top provides a comfortable reach to the mouse.
- The metal legs are magnetic so you can keep notes tidy.
Thanks to Legacy Frameworks for building the desk.
A similar desk is available to purchase with different wood or powder coated leg options. Please contact me for ordering details.
